What is it? This “I Am Canada” stamped-penny necklace from Freckle Face is a favourite of mine for so many reasons. Not only am I a deeply proud and patriotic Canadian, but this also supports a hyper-local business (the artisan is based not 10 minutes from my house). To boot, because it’s custom made, I asked the owner to find pennies wit my kids’ birth years on them. (Note: the original necklace, and the one being given away, has one penny.) You also get to choose one of the charms — I went with a goose, but there’s a hockey stick or a beaver too.

What is it? Beards are everywhere. And I’m not gonna lie — they’re pretty hot. This beard grooming kit from Proraso gives the man in your life everything he needs to keep all that beardy goodness tamed. Big B says the comb is really nice and that the products work well and smell good. Do you need more convincing?

Bee’s Wrap

What is it? The assorted three-packs (great for introducing people to Bee’s Wrap) or the sandwich wrap will help you kick plastic wrap to the curb. Wash and re-use over and over and help produce less waste. Personally, I’d buy the cheese set and pair it with beautiful cheese knives for a killer host(ess) gift.

What is it? Want to help someone unwind after a busy holiday season? A book and a candle, given together, sends the message that you want them to lie back in a frothy tub and enjoy some relaxing me-time. The smell of this bourbon vanilla-scented candle made me want to eat it! And blogger Samantha Irby’s book We Are Never Meeting In Real Life, is a collection of essays — with language that’s salty AF — that will probably make you blush, cover your mouth, laugh out loud, snort or all of the above.

What is it? Look, I’m no vegetarian. But I do recognize the importance of a more plant-based lifestyle and I have become more open than ever to incorporating vegan-friendly meals into our week. At the end of the day, though, I’m a die-hard foodie and all the tofu in the world won’t make me happy if it isn’t prepared with oodles of flavour. I’m going to commit to one vegan meal a week in 2018 and this is how I’m going to do it.

TILE pro series pack

What is it? If you’re constantly misplacing your keys or your smartphone (like me), this is a lifesaver! Thankfully, I only lose them in my own house but each of these little Tiles is designed to track their location using GPS so if you lose them after a rowdy night at the pub, you might actually have a chance of retrieving them. What I like is that even when my phone ringer is OFF, I can use my Tile to find it because it still rings out loud. This set worked as his ‘n hers for Big B and me quite nicely.

I love to cook and this Breville would be a fantastic kitchen assistant.
