I don’t know about you, but I’m a die-hard Shoppers Drug Mart customer. I have been since I went away to university (way back in 19-ninety-cough-cough) and my parents let me get a credit card to do “essential shopping,” which included groceries and toiletries.
Shoppers was my guilty retail therapy joint because I could buy so much more than toiletries, but the credit card bill that went to my parents would be none the wiser.
Tricky, yes, Terrible, yes. But I just couldn’t help myself.
All these years later, I still go a little nuts every time I visit. Between those tempting 20x Optimum Point bonus days and regular sales on items that every member of my family needs, it’s unusual for me to leave empty-handed.
This summer will be no different. Because there’s so much on my shopping bucket list at Shoppers Drug Mart right now. And that line between wants and needs is so very, very fine sometimes, isn’t it?
Here’s how I’mma get my summer on with Shoppers
First thing’s first. A girl’s gotta have smooth legs, and I find the Schick Intuition razor even does a good “dry shave” when you’re in too much of a hurry to get in the shower and use water with it. Plus it gets bonus points for erasing the need to buy shaving cream. Ever.
Schwartzkopf GLISS Color Guard products (check ‘em out in the pic at the top of this post) — this whole line has me hair-happy! I’m a salon blond and need as much colour protection as I can get in the summer when the sun beats down on it. The GLISS line offers a UVA/UVB filter and up to 12 weeks of colour protection and apparently gets distressed locks pretty shiny. I’ll keep you posted…
My kids went bananas on the weekend for the latest NERF Super Soaker — Scatter Blast — that sprays FIVE streams of water at once for maximum soakage. It’s smaller than some of the Super Soakers we’ve had in the past, which is a welcome change since it’s much easier for little arms to hold.
Miss Q loves how vibrant the Crayola Washable Sidewalk Chalk colours are (compared to other brands we’ve tried); I expect my driveway to become the ultimate canvas once the warmer weather decides to actually stay.
With both kids now riding two-wheelers much more confidently, they’re venturing out of our safe little grass-covered park and going on the pavement. We’re also planning to hit some trails as a family. That — along with just being, you know, normal kids — probably means we’ll be mending a few scrapes this summer. We’re gonna need some bandages to accompany Mommy’s magic boo-boo kisses.
Finally, we can’t forget sunscreen, and you know Shoppers has plenty of the stuff. One of my family’s favourite brands is Sun Bum — and not just because the smell is hypnotic. Its Broad Spectrum SPF50 Face Cream sunscreen goes on clear and without that gross greasy feeling; plus it’s water-resistant for up to 80 minutes. (Did I mention how good Sun Bum products smell? OMG).
