I’ve gone between super-long and super-short hair all my life. From a grade-two bowl cut to locks dangling dangerously close to my rear end in high school to a pixie cut in university.
I’ve also had naturally stick straight hair and unco-operative wavy hair (the latter of which I blame on my offspring).
So I know there are hair woes no matter what kind or length of hair you have. But tangles have to be among the worst.
When I made a gross error in judgment in grade seven and got a spiral perm (it was a thing back then…really…), my mom once worked on dislodging a knot for nearly four hours.
Knots are my daughter’s nemesis, too, and we have a hefty collection of brushes to show for it. While we came close with a wet brush, it still didn’t work well on dry hair. It still pulled and hurt her wee head (and telling her it’ll toughen her up, and that mommy has no feeling left in her head thanks to Grammy oddly doesn’t seem to placate her).
HUGE thanks to Tangle Teezer for sending along the one and only brush Miss Q will now let me use: The Original.
THE GOOD
The Tangle Teezer is really compact, and fits in an overnight or dance bag easily and without that awkward handle that most brushes have.
Great colours. Ours is hot pink and purple (called Plum Delicious), but there are half a dozen other colour combos.
Best of all? Tangle Teezer WORKS. Wet hair. Dry hair. Doesn’t matter. It untangles much easier than any other brush we’ve ever tried. There are far fewer tears in the mornings.
This brush doesn’t discriminate! I love using it just as much.
THE GAFFE
Sold in Canada for around $16, depending where you find it, it’s bordering on steep for what basically amounts to a fistful of hollow plastic. Within this price range, I’d love a little carry case to come with it.
