The movie: The Great Muppet Caper & Muppet Treasure Island two-movie collection on Blu-ray combo pack and digital HD (Disney)
When it’s available: December 10, 2013
What it’s about:
- The Great Muppet Caper: Über-fashion designer Lady Holiday’s fancy-pants diamond necklace is stolen. And then Kermit falls head over heels for her because he thinks she’s Miss Piggy! (Silly frogs…) Enter her shady brother who’s trying to frame her for another jewel heist, and it’s all up to The Muppets to save the day
- Muppet Treasure Island: Picture an inheritance that includes a long-lost treasure map and enough money to rent a massive boat to go treasure-hunting. When Kermit the Frog captains the ship and meets up with Long John Silver (ar, matey, voiced by the evil-sounding Tim Curry), all sorts of mayhem ensues. It’s war against dastardly pirates, and you’ll never guess who wins in the end…
What The K Man said: “I don’t really like this…” (10 minutes in to movie No. 1, and he walked away from the TV)
What Miss Q said: “Who are these guys?” (We made it to the 30-minute mark of the first flick and that was it)
The verdict? Unless your kids have been brought up on The Muppets, it might not be an instant hit. But for those of us who have fond memories of the Swedish Chef, Gonzo and Fozzie Bear, you’ll love both movies. So, heck, get them for yourself.
