Calling everyone with 1.5 to six year olds who live in or near Toronto, Surrey, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Markham: Disney Junior Canada and LEGO DUPLO have teamed up to bring you a travelling road show of fun between today and April 13, 2014.
The Magic of Play Tour started in Montreal last weekend and, having just joined in the fun ourselves at Fairview Shopping Centre this morning, I can tell you that your little ones will have a blast.
But the best part? It’s free. As in, zero dollars. As in, grab overpriced coffee and snacks on your way because your activity of the day isn’t going to cost you squat. Unless, of course, you go shopping afterwards like I did. Oops.
Between the age-appropriate Disney Junior shows playing and the zillions of LEGO DUPLO bricks, it’s a colourful, sensory-filled experience that might just be one of the best play dates you have all year.
Even The K Man (age 5.5) who is into “real” LEGO (as he calls the smaller bricks) really got into the DUPLO, saying that it was easier to build with and he could make even taller towers. Frankly, I’d be glad if we had more DUPLO in our house because as any parent of a LEGO-loving child will tell you, your parenting rite of passage is not complete until you’ve navigated the mine field of those teeny tiny pieces strewn across a dark room.
The part I love most is that there are play ambassadors on-hand to help inspire your kids’ creations; or, in our case, ask them for the seventh time to stop sitting in/throwing/knocking down the bricks. Sigh. So grab yourself a java and stand back while your kids get their LEGO on or tuck into some commercial-free shows like Sofia The First and Jake and The Neverland Pirates.
We were there for two hours and the kids probably would have stayed at least another 30 minutes. But BCBG was calling to Mommy.
