Guest reviewer Tessa has two beautiful kids under two! She’s a suburban-dwelling mama who, like me, uses Facebook as a virtual scrapbook, detailing what her babies are up to and sharing their general cuteness for all to see. She’s an ECE teacher who’s enjoying the last few months of her mat leave.

When I received the Tumzee to try and review, my daughter was just a newborn. I was so excited and hoped that she would love tummy time more than my first-born who hated it. Needless to say, she thought tummy time was as tortuous as her brother did.
When I first saw the Tumzee it reminded me of a bumbo chair texture-wise; it’s basically a foam wedge with an incline that supports your baby while on his or her tummy. The Tumzee has a “T” support, just between baby’s legs, with curved sides to keep your baby in place.
THE GOOD
The Tumzee is one of the safest-looking tummy time supports I have seen on the market. I have bought others for my son that kind of just left him lying on a raised platform with no sides, straps or security.
The Tumzee is made of Polypropylene and the “T” support of EVA foam; it really is soft and comfortable for infants.
The wedge cleans very well (my daughter loves to spit up whenever she’s on her tummy).
The Tumzee wedge is light and fairly easy to store. My daughter in this photo was six months and still fit in the Tumzee, so it definitely grows with your child.
I love that the Tumzee is recommended by doctors, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. And it was a recipient of the Parent Tested Parent Approved Award!
THE GAFFE
Both my children hated tummy time. And unfortunately, even the Tumzee couldn’t change my gal’s mind. She screamed every time I put her in. I don’t think she liked her legs wedged into the “T” support and side walls (she’s a wee bit on the heavy side… like, rolls-inside-of-her-rolls kind of heavy).
The colour I received was Halloween orange, which was a little harsh on the eyes.
All in all, I think tummy time is just as effective doing it the good ol’ fashion way: on the floor with no supports and a shiny object in front of them.
I’m just not sure I would pay $39.99 that for what the Tumzee actually is.
