When I wrote about my favourite beauty products last year, I featured Charlotte Tilbury pretty heavily. And that’s because I just can’t get enough of her makeup. This year, I’m completely obsessed with the Hollywood Flawless Filter foundation and a few other products that have been gifted to me.
If you ever wondered what brand I spend my own money on when I need more beauty products, it’s Charlotte. It consistently performs well — everywhere: both in a sweaty dance club and in front of the camera. This brand has solid staying power.
I think it’s imporant to note that I only wanted to share non-professional photos in this post. It’s easy to look amazing when there’s pro lighting and Photoshop involved thanks to a photographer who’s paid to make you look like a celeb. If you want to see what Charlotte’s makeup looks like under these conditions, I’ll point you to a few Instagram posts (like this one, this one or this one).
But for the purposes of real life…get ready for selfies.
In addition to all of the products that made it into my 2017 roundup, there are a few new faves on the scene that I just couldn’t wait until the end of the year to tell you about:
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter foundation
Since I hit my 40s, I’ve been mixing iridescent creams and primers in with my foundations to give me a more youthful, dewy look. Well, no longer! Because this foundation does it for me. It has a strong highlighter effect and great buildability. You really need to pop into a store that carries this line to see what colour will work best, because I’m not normally a medium but in Charlotte’s foundations, that’s exactly the right shade.
This is my bare face with just this foundation, taken with a smartphone in my kids’ bathroom, which actually has terrible lighting:
Add some more to the eyes, cheeks, lips and VOILA:
Bottom line: the best foundation available on the market today for that J.Lo glow.
The Retoucher (conceal & treat stick)
I have this permanent red blotch on my nose for which I always use concealer, but I always hesitate covering up those annoying hormonal pimples for fear of making them worse. So I was thrilled to see that a makeup brand created a concealer that has healing properties.
While I can’t say with any certainty that The Retoucher speeds up the acne-healing process, I can tell you that it doesn’t block pores and make the situation any worse like many concealers would. Here’s another instance where in-store testing is probably necessary, because I’m a Light/1 in this product — two shades lighter than the foundation. Go figure.
Overall, I love how it reflects light and creates the most perfect canvas a face can be:
Charlotte Tilbury Your Lip Service (royal wedding lipstick trio)
I love pretty lipsticks, and this trio that Charlotte Tilbury released to coincide with Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding is comprised of three big winners:
- Matte Revolution Lipstick in Legendary Queen
- Matte Revolution Lipstick in The Queen
- K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in The Duchess
I’ve been wearing them nonstop — especially the bolder colours (as shown earlier). Even the softer colour in the group (The Duchess) is in heavy rotation:
Charlotte Tilbury Multi-Miracle Glow Cleanser, Mask & Balm
One of the things I love most about Charlotte Tilbury makeup is that many of the products are multitaskers. This one is the perfect example.
The Multi-Miracle Glow is a cleanser, mask and balm — all in one, depending on how you use it. If you’ve ever tried Charlotte’s Magic Night Cream, the consistency is very similar. It’s also so concentrated that after two months of use, I’ve barely made a dent.
The Pretty Glowing Kit
I have the “Pretty Fresh” coral cream blush set, which comes with a contoured brush (Charlotte Tilbury makeup brushes are the bomb, BTW). This is a subtle colour and highlighter, perfect for all-day wear. The brush took a bit of getting used to but I’m really into it now and it made me fall in love with cream blushes again!
I’d love your feedback if you decide to buy any of these, so be sure to come back and leave a comment!
Until then, kisses…
