I love experimenting with Garden of Life’s various flavoured protein powders, and this new RAW Meal one in Vanilla Spiced Chai is the perfect complement to metabolism-boosting matcha green tea powder.
Get yourself a good, high-quality matcha (mine is from DAVIDsTEA), and use about half a teaspoon to every one scoop of RAW Meal. If you use unsweetened almond milk and a handful of ice, it’s like a frozen green tea chai latté!
Be sure to blend well, as matcha has a tendency to clump.
Why matcha and not plain old green tea you get in a tea bag? Here are just a few reasons:
- By consuming green tea whole, you get more of the antioxidants and nutrients than you do in your grocery store-bought green tea
- It’s not as processed as green tea; the leaves are kept under the shade to preserve the natural nutrients found in the leaves and they’re never heated
- Matcha has 137 times more of the EGCG antioxidant that’s found in regular green tea. This is linked to improved heart health, metabolism and aging
- It’s a natural anti-inflammatory
DISCLAIMER: I have worked with Garden of Life for nearly two years, because I trust their claims and love their clean ingredients. I recommend Garden of Life protein powders above all others — both online and off. From now until October 30, all Garden of Life-related posts earn me ballots to win a glorious two-night trip to a resort in Florida. Mama needs her sunshine, and all opinions are my own (as always).
