Jennifer and her son “O” are this month’s #DreamBigPrincess guest reviewers. Check out last month’s Rapunzel review and then read on for YOUR child’s opportunity to be next month’s reviewer:
When I read that guest reviewers were needed for Hasbro’s Princess-a-Month campaign, I jumped on the opportunity right away! As a mom of two boys (born 15 years apart, but that’s another story), there is only so much superhero and construction worker and “boy stuff” a mom can take! I was eager to have the chance to play with princess toys with my son.
Speaking of “boy stuff,” we do try to convey the message to our 4.5-year-old son that toys, colours, jobs, etc. have no gender and that anyone can play with/wear/do anything they like. He will often repeat this to us that, “there’s no such thing as boy toys or girl toys,” which makes me proud.
Having just recently watched Disney’s The Little Mermaid with O, I was so excited to learn that we would be receiving three Ariel toys from Hasbro. Coincidentally, when the above-mentioned much older son was little, he LOVED The Little Mermaid and Ariel, too. Like, he was OBSESSED and watched it day in and day out (and day in and day out… and day in and day out…). It made me all nostalgic for my boy who is now a man when O was equally over-the-moon for Ariel.
The day the box arrived, I’m not sure who was more excited — me or O! Inside, were the following toys:
- Disney Princess Swim & Spin Ariel
- Disney Princess Ariel fashion doll
- Disney Princess little Kingdom – Ariel’s Sea Castle
THE GOOD
Swim & Spin Ariel:
- She’s beautiful — from the classic Disney princess face to the tip of her fluttery tail, this doll is so pretty
- Ariel has long, gorgeous long hair that can get wet. O loves to comb it!
- Flounder and Sebastian are attached to her waist, are removable and can be played with on their own as squeezey bath toys
- When you wind up the dial on her back, Ariel spins around with Flounder and Sebastian circling her
- O truly enjoyed playing with her in the bath, making her swim, dive and get rescued by his pirate toys (boys will be boys…)
Disney Princess Ariel Fashion Doll:
- This is also a very pretty doll with a gorgeous green dress. She even came with cute green shoes!
- This doll is a good likeness of “human” Ariel from the movie
Disney Princess little Kingdom – Ariel’s Sea Castle:
- This is a very colourful toy that is a playground (my son’s favourite place), with a swing and a slide
- You can add water to the slide and a gear will turn, making the slide more slippery
- Ariel is small and cute and comes with two skirts. O thought she was “baby Ariel” and pretended the fashion doll was the mom
- Great for imaginative play — O pretended it was everything from a park to Ariel’s house to a school. The Ariel in this toy was also “rescued” by other police and firefighter toys on numerous occasions
- Comes with a small Sebastian who also fits on the slide and the swing
THE GAFFE
Swim & Spin Ariel:
- This is not a small doll. In fact, she’s quite tall and, therefore, the water has to be really deep for her to float and spin the way she’s meant to. I kept adding more and more water to O’s bath and it was almost up to his armpits before Ariel would “perform.” The water was much deeper than I am comfortable with for my child and I wouldn’t fill it up that high again
Disney Princess Ariel Fashion Doll:
- There isn’t a whole lot you can do with Ariel, except comb and style her hair and play make believe, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing
- Her shoes just don’t stay on and last time I looked, she had Cinderella-ed one
- The dress is a little bit difficult to get off, especially over the arms
Disney Princess little Kingdom – Ariel’s Sea Castle:
- There are VERY tiny pieces called “Snap-ins” that can be stored on the toy and used to decorate Ariel’s hair and skirt. These will be lost in no time, I guarantee it
- The bathtub that Sebastian sits in constantly falls over
- I read the instructions and it says Ariel can be strapped into the seaweed harness (wait, what?) but we couldn’t figure that out
THE GEARS
- Swim & Spin Ariel = 3.5/5
- Disney Princess Ariel Fashion Doll = 3.5/5
- Disney Princess little Kingdom — Ariel’s Sea Castle = 4/5

Henry is 5 and loves Tiana! She is one of his favourite “princesses,” and mine too, because she is brave, independent and works at a career she loves!
H has a huge doll collection and really loves Barbies and other dolls that do cool things like sing or “fly.”
We are in Ontario 🙂

My little girl, Kaelynn, just turned 7 and couldn’t be more of a princess wannabe if she tried. Crowns, tiaras, jewels, fancy dresses and more fill her toy box. Most of them we have gotten 2nd hand but that doesn’t bother her!
Kaelynn absolutely adores Tiana. She loves Tiana “Because she’s a princess mommy” and “she wins against the bad guy in the end”.
I love Tiana because she doesn’t stop fighting for her dreams. She is strong and being a princess has nothing to do with her ability to conquer evil or make her dreams come true.
We live in a small town in rural Nova Scotia. We would love the opportunity to be a part of #DREAMBIGPRINCESS .
(I’m sure my son would also love to help out and share a review/interview on his youtube channel that he is slowly working on)

First off, we live in Ontario. I have a daughter named Olivia age 6 and a son named Dominic age 4. Well, actually Olivia is technically 5 but her birthday is June 19th so I wrote 6.
I must have seen The Princess and the Frog at least a dozen times. When my children like a movie they watch it until the DVD player burns a hole in it, to say the least.
We have a few Tiana toys which are played with everyday. My daughter has a Tiana costume but my son is the one who insists on wearing it all the time. He loves it so much that I need to bribe him to take it off at the end of the day so I can bathe him.
My kids would be over the moon if given the oppotunity to review anything The Princess and the Frog or Tiana related.
Thank you for your consideration,
Tiffany

We live in Ontario and my daughter is 3 and my son is 5. The Princess and the Frog is a favourite of not only my daughter but my 5 year old son as well. What they love most about Tiana is her spunk & independence. My son says she works hard to make her dreams come true. And I love that it teaches my kids that with hard work you can achieve your dreams not by waiting for your fairy godmother. We would be thrilled to test & review the Tiana Disney Princess toys.

I live in Ontario and my daughter is 4. Tiana in princess and the frog is the first Disney Princess movie my daughter actually watched the whole way through. She loved the frog and alligator as well. We liked showing her this movie in particular as our daughter is a biracial child and when i was growing up we never had the opportunities to see this as much as now. She truly loves Tiana and sang to the songs as she caught on to them fairly quickly. She would absolutely love to have the chance to own her very own princess Tiana.

We live in Manitoba and my girl is 6 years old. We love dressing up as princesses and playing with princess toys, so this would be really fun! We love Tiana because she is just a really cool princess. My niece especially likes her dress! As for the writing opportunity, I would love the chance to take pictures and write a review on these products! I used to write book reviews so I have some experience with writing reviews.

This looks like a great prize pack, my granddaughter would love to play with, she is 4 years old and what she likes most about Princess Tiana is her changing into a frog, and all the music and dancing in the movie, she is to young to understand the full concept of the movie. Since we live in Ontario she would be able to use Swim & Spin Ariel in the pool on the hot days!! thank you so much for this opportunity!!

This is fantastic! Of all the princesses we met at Disney World, Tiana was my older daughter’s favourite princess. She was so kind to my daughter (she has an anxiety disorder called Selective Mutism) patient and understanding. For my younger daughter, she loves that Tiana has spunk just like her! We live in Ontario and I know my 2 girls would love to review and test out Tiana toys for Hasbro’s #DREAMBIGPRINCESS Princess-a-month!
