THE PRODUCT
The Treehouse Owl Family magnetic fold-up playset from Imaginetics USA and International Playthings.
THE GOOD
- The 33 pieces included promise hours of imaginative play, with many opportunities for varied storytelling
- A great activity for your child to do independently, with friends or siblings and with parents (seriously, this is one of those kid activities I don’t loathe doing for more than five minutes)
- Compact enough that you can take this on the road to Grandma’s (just be sure to put it into a big Ziplok or something to keep all the little pieces together)
- Gender-neutral, which makes for a great loot bag gift – we gave these to all of the kids who came to The K Man’s surprise birthday party at Great Wolf Lodge
THE GAFFE
- You need to be super-careful about tearing the magnetic owls and their accessories from the sheet they come on – if you go too fast, you’re going to rip the top off of the magnet and it ain’t gonna be pretty
- The magnets should be stronger; for example, there are sunglasses for the owls (so cute) but they don’t stay on the owl’s face too well (this is far more upsetting to my two year old who believes everything should work the way she wants it to, when she wants it to)
- At around $8, I find this a tad overpriced; look for it on sale or at discount stores like Winners and TJ Maxx for about half (and, yes, it’s well worth $4 or $5)
