THE PRODUCT
Kre-O CityVille Invasion Marina Madness Construction Set, $30ish, powered by Duracell.
THE GOOD
You know, 206 pieces of anything would have sounded like a lot before I had a Kre-O/LEGO/MegaBloks-loving little boy. But some of these sets come with many more hundreds of blocks. The teeniest tiniest blocks you can imagine. So when I read that the Kre-O CityVille Invasion Marina Madness Construction Set came with a mere 206 pieces, I rejoiced. It’s a very manageable number.
This set includes a lot of figures, which The K Man really likes. He’s not a fan of the sets that just come with bricks. For him, it’s about the storytelling component. And I loved listening to the imaginative play that resulted from his interactions with Sharktooth, Dockhand Rusty, Sergeant Splash, Lt. Mari Time and Ray Manta Kreon.
Kre-O’s Marina Madness is only about $30, which is very reasonable for what you get.
THE GAFFE
It requires batteries to be fully operational. I’m not sure how I feel about something as basic as Kre-O needing batteries, but we entrusted this job to Duracell as usual. And, admittedly, the ocean sounds are pretty cool.
