Modaselle designer consignment

I had been coveting a Balenciaga City bag for years. But aside from its hefty price tag, by the time I finally decided to nab one, the style I liked the most — with the giant rose gold hardware — had been discontinued.

I know, I know. First-world problems.

What to do?

The answer: search Canada’s designer consignment shops. And that’s exactly what I did, which ultimately led me to Vancouver-based Modaselle.

Now, Modaselle is more than just pre-owned designer handbags. You’ll also find high-end shoes, jewelry and watches. Most of which are in nearly new condition — all of which come with a detailed description of just how much pre-lovin’ they’ve enjoyed.

Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and YSL are splashed on every page of wares. You’ll find the likes of Alexander McQueen, Chopard, Cartier, Givenchy and Chloe, too, among other luxury brands.

And let’s not forget my beloved Balenciaga, which I dared not buy from eBay or a site like Kijiji.

I scored this stunning white Giant City Gold bag with exactly the hardware I wanted, and in a price range that was a helluva lot easier on the wallet. It arrived three days later, wrapped in a double box to fully protect it on its journey across the country, and was also enclosed in a brand new dust bag.

It looked EXACTLY like it did in the photos, and totally lived up to my years-long expectations.

When it comes to designer consignment goods, I put my faith in proven sellers. I know my fakes reasonably well, but not well enough to risk it beyond a site that guarantees authenticity like Modaselle. That said, I did carefully examine my Balenciaga City bag when it arrived to look for all of the obvious things to help authenticate it, like the different coloured thread on the top of the tag, the slits in the sides of the rivets, the twirly-whirly details around the strap clips — even the way the zipper looks. I knew it would be spot on, and it was.
