THE PRODUCT
The RAVPower Luster 3000mAh External Battery.
THE GOOD
In short, it totally works. Like, really well. I keep it with me at all times now because my iPhone 5’s battery is becoming more pitiful by the day. So, even though I still have 13 per cent of my battery life yet and my lovely iPhone decides it’s going to power down (just for fun), I have the RAVPower external battery ready to bring it back to life.
One fully-charged RAVPower external battery provides one complete charge to a totally dead device. We’ve tried this with an iPhone, Samsung Note3 and two generations of iPod Touches. Works consistently well with all of them.
It’s also a flash light. And, bonus! A strobe light. So if you ever find yourself in a noraebang and need a light show, this is the ticket.
The colours are awesome. The hot pink is truly a luster-y hot pink that any pink-lover will, uh, love.
If you can get it for the sale price of $19.99 that’s listed on RAVPower’s website as I write this post, it’s absolutely worth every penny. If it’s back up to $50, well, that’s a bit much in my opinion.
THE GAFFE
The RAVPower Luster External Battery takes a LONG time to charge. At least four to five hours. So if you deplete it, you’re going to have to give yourself a whole lot of time to get it re-charged. At $20, you might as well buy two and have a backup if you’re the kind of person who’s gone from sun up to sun down and needs to be tapping away all day long.
Although I don’t mind the size of the RAVPower Luster, I wish it was more the size of a lipstick like it mentions on the website. As it stands, I couldn’t get my phone and external battery into an average evening bag that also needs to house ID and lipstick.
