There are few shoe brands that my entire family will wear without any cajoling. Fewer still that are at an affordable enough price point that sticker shock doesn’t send me into actual shock. SKECHERS gives us the contemporary styles we want with the comfort we need at prices that don’t make me squint and look away while handing over my credit card. And its SS18 (spring/summer 2018) collection is on fleek. (Because cool kids are still totally saying that, right?)
We were gifted a few pairs from the new SKECHERS lines for men, women and kids and I couldn’t narrow down favourites to show you because we loved them all so much, so you’re gonna see the whole kit and caboodle.
Let’s start with the kids’ shoes from SKECHERS. When they arrived, Miss Q actually jumped in circles like a dog chasing its own tail. The chatty K Man — just shy of 10 and very much into expressing things with an adult tone these days, looked me straight in the eye and said with all seriousness: “I really like what SKECHERS is doing these days. The quality on these shoes is remarkable. The styles are really good — even better than they’ve been in the past. I’m very excited to wear all of these.” I cannot make this stuff up, folks.
I have to start with the Go Walk 4 shoes because they’re a fan favourite around here. In fact, The K Man was none so pleased that there were no Go Walks for boys this season. Miss Q’s pair from last year were just starting to look ratty, and her toes had finally reached the end, so the timing was perfect. Here’s what your kid will say when she puts on a pair of Go Walk 4s: “Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!”
Miss Q is currently planning to become a professional hip hop dancer when she grows up (surely the recreational hip hop class she took at age four will do the trick). So these satin street-style kicks are definitely her jam:
Getting my son to wear dress shoes has always been a bit of a battle because of the comfort issue, so it’s nice to see dressier shoes made with memory foam insoles and soles that are as easy to wear as runners:
Last year, The K Man really got into flip flops and he says these ones are the comfiest pair he’s owned to date:
The big hit for summer, though, are the Guzman shoes. Inspired by a much pricier pair of slip-ons I’ve seen elsewhere, the SKECHERS Guzman Steps and Guzman 2.0s are hands-down my kids’ faves. Both have already announced they plan to live in them:
The ones that have the mesh heel are my personal fave because of their versatility:
Then there’s the men’s shoes from Mark Nason, which are part of the SKECHERS family but have design details and materials that you’d expect from a higher-end brand. Think leather and waxed laces.
The brand does advise going down half a size to a full size in the Mark Nason shoes, but don’t do that if you’re like my husband and you’re in denial about having size 15 feet and you’ve spent the better part of adulthood cramming your toes into 13s and 14s. Just order the 14s and relish in the joy of shoes that actually fit.
The rugged look isn’t really something you think of with SKECHERS, but this is Big B’s second pair of Mark Nason boots and they certainly deliver:
For a guy who wears a lot of blazers with jeans to his somewhat casual-dress job in cooler spring and fall weather, and then amps up summer gatherings with preppy shorts and golf shirts, leather slip-ons go with everything and make it easy to look good with feet that feel even better:
Ever since I put on my first pair of Go Walk shoes in 2014, I’ve been hooked. And this year’s Go Walk Joy shoes are just as comfy as ever:
I really wanted to try the new Mark Nason line for women, and it didn’t disappoint! Though I was a full- to half-size smaller than in the regular SKECHERS brand, so keep that in mind if you’re ordering online.
These are soooo cute and rival the Go Walks in terms of comfort:
Similar in many ways to Go Walks, I love the slightly edgier look that these knit slip-ons provide:
Speaking of edgy, these fashion-forward babies are a soft leather with traces of gold running through them. They’re on-trend with a thick sole, but it’s all memory foam goodness inside — so my 42-year-old feet are not at odds with my 25-year-old state of mind:
Finally, nothing says summer quite like slides and I love these ones from SKECHERS so much that they’re already in high rotation now that sunnier skies are here:
SKECHERS is feeling super generous and is giving away one grand prize and two runner-up prizes:
- One grand prize winner will get a pair of shoes for each member of the family!*
- Two runners-up will get to choose one pair of shoes each
