Fairmont Tremblant: a Mont-Tremblant spa hotel

If you’ve come looking for the best Mont-Tremblant spa hotel, then you’re in the right place. The Fairmont Tremblant has long been one of my family’s favourite hotels in the pedestrian village, but it’s been our hotel-of-choice for a romantic escape in the past, too. And with its recent overhaul of the year-round heated outdoor pools, just beyond the spa, it’s time for a fresh post about the place.

Mont-Tremblant spa hotel: Fairmont Tremblant’s pools + hot tub

There’s absolutely nothing better than skiing into the side entrance of your hotel, handing your skis to the nice Ski Valet team, ditching your boots and layers in your room and slipping on a swimsuit for an après-ski hot tub moment. It’s always a welcome retreat after a few hours of hard work on the hill to sooth those tired legs.

There are other hotels in the village with hot tubs and even one with a heated pool, but they’re nothing like the ones at the Fairmont. Though I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the old pool and hot tubs, the improvements are fantastic. Now there’s one pool and one massive hot tub, which is where most of the action is.

Part of what makes the pools and hot tub here so extra is that they sideline right onto a ski run, so you can people-watch while you warm your body back to acceptable temperatures after a day on the slopes. Better still? The entire patio (La Terrasse) is licensed, with servers visiting every edge of the pool and hot tub.

Speaking of drinks, I have to admit that we spend a lot of our vacation dollars sipping on bevvies in the Fairmont hot tub, but they aren’t too overpriced, as you might expect. Cocktails sit in the $12-18 range, while beer is around $11 a can. The pours are generous and you can’t beat having drinks delivered to you in a hot tub by a Canada Goose-clad server.

And if you think this kind of après is reserved solely for adults, think again. Our kids have loved playing in the pool so much over the years and, now, as teenagers, join us in the hot tub before leaving us there to order more drinks and prune ourselves while they head back to the room or go for a walk in the village.

There’s an indoor pool, too, with a hot tub just behind it. Younger kids will probably prefer this pool because there are fewer adults who hang out in here and they feel they can be a bit more, well, childish. Splashing is more acceptable and since it’s indoors, no winter hats are required. It’s floor-to-ceiling windows, too, so you’ll feel like you’re outside without feeling like you’re outside.

Let’s talk about the spa…

If you came to Tremblant to splurge and get pampered, Moment Spa in the Fairmont Tremblant is where you want to be. On the second floor of the hotel (just above the terrace level), you’ll find a clean, contemporary spa environment that will take even the most stressed-out guest and turn them to putty. Trust me — you’re gonna leave feeling like a million bucks.

Make no mistake, like any hotel spa, you’re going to be spending the big bucks for services.

If you’re here with your partner, a tandem massage with two very skilled massage therapists in the same room might just be what the doctor ordered. We felt utterly relaxed and loved the total silence to completely unwind and sink into nothingness.

NeuroSpa is one of the cooler things I’ve tried at a spa appointment. It’s a post-massage add-on that lasts about 10 to 15 minutes or so, if I recall correctly. But it feels like an hour! It’s a zero-gravity chair with vibrations and music that help stimulate mental wellbeing and even more relaxation than you thought you needed. This alone is why the Fairmont is the only Mont-Tremblant spa hotel you need!

Between our couples’ massage, the very cool post-massage experience and chilling with Prosecco in the hot tubs and pools afterwards, it’s a great way to get in on some Fairmont action even if you aren’t staying here overnight.

That’s right: access to indoor and outdoor heated pools and hot tubs, the Finnish sauna, steam bath and fitness centre is included with the purchase of a spa package of two hours or more.

Pro Tip: don’t forget to pack your bathing suit, flip flops and a winter hat. The pool and hot tub are very warm but your hair will freeze thanks to the steam meeting the cold Quebec air, and you’ll lose unnecessary amounts of body heat through your head without one. If you forget your flip flops, ask the front desk to have housekeeping drop off slippers for everyone; they’re all the same size, but will do the trick in a pinch.
