Once upon a time, Hasbro came to me and asked if Miss Q would like to participate in its Princess A Month campaign for the balance of 2016. It meant that every month, from April to December, Miss Q would receive a themed “princess package.”
My kids are spoiled already, folks. Madly spoiled. Miss Q doesn’t need eight months’ worth of dolls and doll paraphernalia. And I’m not sure I’d have the time to squeeze in so many reviews. But we did agree to act as bookends, kicking off the program and closing it out during the holiday season.
So that, dear reader, means YOU get to help us. From May to November, I’ll be choosing one lucky reader per month to take on the task of unboxing, exploring, playing, make-believing and reviewing various princesses — all courtesy of Hasbro. You’ll photograph and write about your child’s experiences with and opinions about your package, worth around $75 each. And at the end of your review, there will be another opportunity to be a Hasbro Princess-A-Month guest reviewer. Read all the way to the end for more details.
We begin with Rapunzel — a fan favourite in our house thanks to Tangled. Miss Q’s been playing with her Disney Princess “fashion doll” ($17.99), Rapunzel’s tower ($29.99) and the small doll collection pack ($34.99) for a few weeks, and having a ball, I might add.
THE GOOD
Disney Princess “fashion doll”
- This Rapunzel has long, flowy hair that’s perfect for hairdressing play. It’s easy to braid, twirl and twist and if you use small elastics, you can try a lot of different styles on her
- Her face is classic Disney with those big eyes, and she looks pretty similar to the animated Tangled character
- Rapunzel’s tower
- Amazing for imaginative play with different levels and stations
- Comes with a small doll so your child can start playing right away
- Integrates perfectly with the small dolls and their accessories
- Collapses, which means you can take it along in a small backpack to doctor’s appointments, and so on
- Small doll collection pack
- If you already have the Disney Princess small dolls with the rubber or clip-on dresses, these ones match them in size really well
- Lots of small pieces for great fine-motor skill development
- With so many accessories, your child will be able to mix, match and personalize his or her dolls over and over again
- Compared to the rubber-dressed small dolls we have, these clothes are much easier to get on and off (for both Miss Q and me!)
THE GAFFE
- Disney Princess “fashion doll”
- She doesn’t come with anything other than a dress and shoes
- Because she’s not the same size or shape as most of Q’s other dolls, she can’t share clothes or shoes
- Rapunzel’s tower
- It collapses into so many pieces that we’ve already misplaced two, which means it’s a pretty disjointed tower until we can figure out where those went (my guess? With all of our missing socks)
- Small doll collection pack
- Holy crap, the accessories are so very, very tiny. If you have pets or babies, these will need to be stored VERY carefully
- The dresses are definitely stiffer than our rubber ones, but Miss Q doesn’t seem to mind
THE GEARS
- Disney Princess “fashion doll” = 3.5/5
- Rapunzel’s tower = 4/5
- Small doll collection pack = 4.5/5

WRITING COUNTS — this is not a random draw. I’ll choose someone on April 20 at 10 p.m. ET and you’ll have 24 hours to respond. You’ll receive about $75 worth of product and you get to keep it! I live in Ontario. My toddler is 3 1/2 … going on 13. My daughter is obsessed with all things princess. It started with Elsa. Though I tried to avoid the Frozen craze, my daughter’s daycare did not. Emily would come home singing songs from Frozen and asking me to sing them with her. Eventually I gave in and bought the movie, and actually found that I enjoyed it, and like singing the songs too.
I bought her an Elsa outfit (dress, shoes, gloves and tiara) which she insists on wearing whenever she watches the movie…must dress the part to be the part, I suppose.
Her next obsession, and current favourite is Cinderella. We were given a used DVD from a co-worker. Emily would watch this movie over and over. She hides behind me when Gus and Jaq try to avoid the cat.
We now have dresses from Elsa, Rampunzel and Sophia the First (well, she’s a princess too, right). I suspect our closet will soon be full of others.
My daughter would really enjoy being part of this review. She loves to play with dolls, loves princesses, and has recently become very interested in putting on little plays with her dolls. She enjoys posing for the camera, and taking pictures of her own, so the review will probably include photos from a toddler’s perspective.
Thanks for the chance.

I live in Ontario and I have 2 Disney loving princesses of my own! P is 9 and S is 6.
In our house it’s all about being a princess and imagining for every waking moment….well almost! Except when math, science and French homework get in the way. With Ariel being P’s favourite princess and Snow White for S, the imagining can take us to the mountains, the forest or the sea on any given day and somehow I always end out being the huntsman, Ursula or the evil stepmother.
But it doesn’t end there…while Ariel and Snow White are the favourites around here it doesn’t mean that any of the other princesses are ever left out. As sisters, there is no shortage of pretending to be Anna & Elsa while practising songs and having Daddy be their prince or dressing up as Cinderella and heading to the ball to dance the night away.
From being Disney princesses to meeting their favourite Disney princesses at Disney World, my princesses would love the opportunity to play and imagine with Hasbro!

My daughter is turning 5 very soon and she loves Cinderella. We recently visited Disneyland, from our home in Vancouver BC, where she even got to meet the real version! She is very shy but was very excited. Even though the trip was weeks ago, she is still talking about how she met all the princesses and got Cinderella’s autograph.
I think she would love a Disney Princess Cinderella to add to her collection. She loves small things; Lego being her favourite right now. She even has the Lego Cinderella carriage!

Hi! I’m from Ontario and I have 4 children. My daughter is 4 and my sons are 7, 9 and 13. My daughter is very into Disney Princesses and all things girly but she knows her way around Lego and dinky cars as well! She loves Elsa, Anna, Ariel, Rapunzel and Belle the best, at the moment. She is fierce, strong and confident and she loves all things that glitter and sparkle! I like to play dolls and house with her because she is very imaginative, caring and kind and these characteristics are very visible through her play. I’d love the opportunity to review the Disney toys and I think I’d do a great job at it too because I am a hobbyist photographer and love photographing the special moments in our lives. Thanks so much for the opportunity!

I live in Manitoba and have a four and a half year old daughter. She is all about the sparkly things, anything pink, and fashion. When I asked her what she wanted for Christmas last year, she responded with a blue dress, pink sparkly shoes, and makeup. Very specific for a four year old. She thinks she IS a princess. Her favourite would be Rapunzel. She says she “wants her long, long, long, looooong hair.”
Ariel and Belle are close behind. Ariel, because she is a mermaid, turns into a human, and falls in love. Belle, because she gets to live in an enchanted castle.
We would be happy to try out some fun new princess toys and be a guest reviewer here on Mommy Gearest.
Thanks Andrea!

I am from Chestermere, Alberta. I have a daughter who just turned 5 last Tuesday (April 12th). She has speech apraxia where her speech muscles are not quite developed so we encourage her to talk a lot through play. She loves playing pretend with her Barbies, Lego and miniature Disney Princess dolls. She also loves to wear her different princess costumes and pretend that she is a model asking as to take pictures of her all the time. No wonder we always run out of space on our phones. Her favourite princess is Cinderella though she pronounces it as Cinde-e-RRa.

She does not discriminate with the princesses she loves them all but she has a special place for Ariel and Rapunzel. What a delight this would be and I wish you all the best as you work your way through all these entries. Cheers!

If you were to ask my almost five-year-old daughter who her favourite princess is, she would say Ariel with her flashing mermaid’s tail. But what about Elsa, one might ask? “She’s my favourite QUEEN.” E plays her “Frozen” CD regularly, rushing upstairs to don her Queen Elsa dress so she can regale any willing audience member with emotional performances of “Let It Go” and “Do you want to build a Snowman?” But her Frozen obsession is not to the exclusion of the other leading ladies in the Disney Princess line-up. She watched Rapunzel for the first time last month – giggling at the frying pan scenes – and loves to listen to Beauty and the Beast songs, concentrate on Disney Princess puzzles, or have me re-read our worn copy of Mulan. We are heading to Disneyland for the first time this year, which will surely only intensify her love of fairy tale royalty. E would be ecstatic to receive a princess package in the mail at our home near Vancouver, B.C. Thank you for your consideration!

awe well this kinda sucks. I know my 3.5 year old would totally love this toy but it would be hard for me to write a review on it because she is autistic and wouldn’t play with this like most children would. She would probably run around with the lizard and rapunzel doll around the house and screaming in her excited way. Oh well I will just keep this in mind for something to hopefully purchase for her in the future. good luck to everyone

We are a family from rural Ontario with two girls aged 2 and 7. They play sweetly together, dressing up as princesses and playing Barbie and dolls together. My 7 year old’s favourite princess is Ariel and she dresses up like her with the wig and all for Halloween and play dates with friends. Her favourite movie is ‘Tangled’ with Rapunzel. My littlest one loves to dress up and says “look at me mommy, I’m a princess” melting my heart with her dress, crown, and heels. Her favourite princess is Cinderella. Being princesses together creates a special bond between them.

My daughter and I live in British Columbia, on the Sunshine Coast. Molly (4) is all about princesses right now, always picking out the different movies from the library as well as the books. Right now her favourite is Ariel, but it seems to vary as the week goes on. Elsa is always at the top of the list, as is Mulan and Merida. She loves interactive toys, anything she can put together, dolls she can dress up. I think we’d be a great fit for your blog!

She was living in a world of blur and no one had any idea. We got her glasses for her, she put them on, she looked in the mirror and said, “Mommy, I am a beautiful princess just like Cinderella”
Her imagination is so creative, she is always waving her wand turning her little sister into a little princess. She loves having her picture taken and helping with reviews 🙂

My 3 year old daughter is being raised on disney princesses in Toronto,On. When most parents were bragging about their toddler reciting the alphabet, my sweetheart could name all the disney princesses, their dress colour and the names of all their animal friends. Her current favourite is Rapunzel, but this is mostly because I belt out (read:howl) all the songs from Tangled while we dance around in costumes. She owns no less than three Rapunzel dresses, as well as a blond wig.
When it comes to toys, she does not discriminate amongst princesses. If they have exaggerated eyes and puffy impractical dresses, my little monarchist is in love. She regularly carries around a purse full of disney princess little people and sleeps with anywhere between one and four 18″ princess dolls.
Needless to say the idea of a box arriving at our house full of princess toys would be met with the same enthusiasm as a one direction concert in a local middle school. Please pick us, if only so I can stop singing Tangled songs and get her hooked on something else. I have a dream…

This would be a dream come true for my daughter! We live in Ontario and my little girl is 3 years old. She absolutely loves Disney and all of the Princesses. Her current favourite is Cinderella. Everyday she asks to wear a Princess dress. It’s a rare occasion that I can get her in anything else. When we pick my son up from school or are out and about we get stopped as people admire what she is wearing. It is usually a Princess dress paired with pajama’s underneath and a random choice of shoes!! She also asks me daily to do her hair like Cinderella, Elsa, Anna, Belle or whatever Princess she fancy’s that day. We need to work on growing her as currently it is hard to accommodate many of the Princess styles :). She is imaginative, determined (or some may say stubborn) and loves to play. I know she would be ecstatic for a new Princess toy and I love to give honest feedback. Thank you for your consideration!!

My Daughter is 5 years old and is turning 6 in August, we live in Toronto. She was introduced to the Disney Princesses when she was a baby and fell in love with Tinker Bell. Over the years she has added a few extras as her faves.. Rapunzel, Cinderella, Anna and Elsa. She would be so excited to be chosen. I can see her face now and the noises she will make.. thanks so much for the opportunity. This will be a great Hasbro product to check out for any little girl. good luck to all.

My daughter, 4, loves princesses; playing dressup (typically Elsa and Cinderella), reading Disney princess books (current favourite is Belle), dancing to Ariel songs (although her brother still prefers Anna and Elsa songs), bath time fun with Cinderella, Elsa, and Anna dolls, and, of course, watching Disney movies (Tangled and Beauty and the Beast currently). We live in rural Nova Scotia. Her love of Disney started with a Minnie mouse purse. Fingers crossed.

Oh man, does this ever have my daughter’s name written all over it! My middle child turning 3 in just a few weeks and having a Disney princess birthday party! We live in Ontario and she is absolutely obsessed with all things princess. She is currently living as Cinderella by day and Elsa by night. She would be over the moon if she was chosen!

I live in Ontario and my six-year-old loves Snow White the best because “she has lots of little men to keep her safe and she also has a Prince trying to kiss her.” Clearly she’s a bit boy crazy 🙂

Hi!
We live in Ontario. Our eldest daughter will be four years old on the 26th of this month. Her favourite Disney Princess is Rapunzel. In fact, Rapunzel is the only name she will reply to 90% of the time.

Ohmagawd. My daughter would DIE. As much as I am not a girly girl my 3.5 yr old is! I can’t stop her from liking what she likes so I just go along with it. This included a trip to Disney On Ice during the March Break (mama of the year managed to get FRONT ROW, thanks Amex Front of the Line). Check it out! https://www.facebook.com/jacob.clark.31586/videos/10156689442700644/
My husband ‘might’ even be a bigger Disney Princess fan than my daughter…no weird stuff here. He’s the one who gets down on the floor and plays dolls with her in the morning since I work consistent nights. I am the one with OCD that tries to untangle the tangled Rapunzel hair (see what I did there) and braid and re braid the Elsa hair over and over, I’m getting really good at that French Braid. Lots of Youtube tutorials out there.
As a household full of princesses and princess dresses we would welcome a fun ‘challenge’ like this!

I have 3 girls! 3 and a half, almost 6 and 8! So princesses are all over our house in LaSalle, Ontario. This would be great as you would have 3 different reviews in one. I can’t even try to name all their favourite princesses… But Repunzal, Elsa, Anna, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella come to mind?

I have an almost 4 year old little girl who truly thinks she is a princess! She loves to play and pretend and is a very happy girl. She has 2 older brothers (6 and 8) so her tiaras and frills are well received by me! Although she holds her own with her brothers with hockey sticks and baseball gloves, she loves to be a princess while doing it. She would love to play and sample any toys related to Disney and all her favourite character… Especially Ariel! What a generous offer!

I live in Ontario and my daughter is 5. Her all time favourite Princess is Rapunzel. We took her to Disney in November and she only wanted to meet Rapunzel. She didn’t care about the other Princesses. She didn’t run to the Anna and Elsa line. She got in the line for Rapunzel and was awe struck. Her face lite up. She was giddy and excited. She spent her entire time talking to Rapunzel. Asking where Pasqual was (apparently playing hide and seek in the castle). She was dressed in her Rapunzel gown with her long blonde hair that skims her butt hanging there. In her excitement to meet Rapunzel we forgot to get her autograph. Thanks to the help of Rapunzel’s lovely assistant she was able to quickly get Rapunzel’s autograph between other kids meetings. People constantly tell her with her long locks that she looks like Rapunzel and she is just fine with that.

We live in Ontario. We have a daughter who is 6 years old. She loves Disney Princesses, especially Rapunzel (that she has long magical hair which can heal people and do up nice hair braids), Ariel (that she can sing really well and love to go to different area to explore even though is against the King’s advice), and Cinderella (that her magical journey to the ball with the help of her animal friends and met the Prince). She loves to watch the various Princess movies with her little brother (4 year old) and then recreate some of the scenes in the movies. She has a pair of plastic transparent slippers and quite often, she would intentionally left one slipper on the floor and his little brother would be the Prince and would pick up that one slipper and run after her; or little brother would be the evil stepmother in Snow White, wrapped around himself with a blanket and gave a “poison” apple to my daughter (who pretended to be Snow White) and she would then “fainted” on the floor. She sometimes would want to “trick” little brother to be the “Beast” too to dance with her. There are more other recreation of scenes by them and these are just a few examples. Thank you very much for the opportunity.

I live in Ontario and my little brat *cough cough* I mean Princess will be 3 in August. She loves and adores Princess Rapunzel since we took her to have lunch with her at Boston Pizza. She calls her Princess Punzy. We don’t have a lot of Princess Dolls mainly because she is just getting into doll playing and for awhile her favorites were Anna and Elsa, she has a few Elsa dolls that she loves to run around the house with singing “Let it go”. I know she would love the opportunity to play with more Princesses.

We have a 4 year old daughter and live in Ontario. I am not sure I could really tell you which princess is her favourite because it changes every day! We went through the Frozen stage, where Anna and Elsa were the absolute favourites, then went on to a Belle stage (as her baby brother bought her a Belle dress when he was born) and recently she has gone back to Rapunzel. We made a special trip to the toy store with her chore money and she purchased the Rapunzel fashion doll you just reviewed which has accompanied her to school every day since then.

I live in Ontario, my daughter is three, and in between bouts between dinosaurs and dump trucks, she is all about the princesses. We are showing her the classics too, like Cinderella (Bibilly Bobilly is Fairy Godmother’s name, you know, Mama), Beauty & The Beast, The little Mermaid, etc. We bought her a Rapunzel doll, her current fave, two weeks ago and within HOURS the hair resembled more of a bird’s nest she played with it so much. I promise no shortage of pictures with her and princesses; I don’t know how I even fit my daughter into her bed at this point! My husband took her to the Disney Store once, and she now believes it is *actual* Disneyland. Wish me luck! lol
