When HP’s PR agency asked me if I had any “older adults” in my life who would like the convenience of a tablet with an extremely easy-to-use platform, I volunteered my parents to test out the HP Slate 7 tablet. My Dad has been the primary user, and wrote the below review, so let me give…
Garden of Life mind/body rejuvenation challenge: update No. 3
Now that I’m half-way through my mind/body rejuvenation challenge (which you can read more about here, here and here), I have started to notice a bit of a plateau. The weight is no longer dripping off of me like it did the first few weeks and I’m not inching back into my old clothes as quickly….
Prettying up a small space for the holidays
I knew I was going to hate it before we even moved in. The powder room. If you’ve been through the hours-long process of “picking colours” when building a new home, you’ll know the anguish that comes along with seeing 47 different types of beige tiles. One sort of just gives in after a while,…
Trusting Sailun Tires’ IceBlazers with my family’s safety (sponsored post)
I didn’t know until recently that winter tires aren’t just about better control in snowy conditions. I had no clue that it was as much about temperature as it is about Mother Nature’s winter gift. We’ve considered getting winter tires for at least the last six years, coinciding with my first pregnancy when mama-bear instincts…
Garden of Life mind/body rejuvenation challenge: update No. 2
I fell off the wagon this weekend. It happens, right? It started with divine French food full of delicious, fatty goodness on Saturday night and ended with a carb-and-grease overload at Boston Pizza on Sunday. But I got back on track today, and I’d been very disciplined so far, so I’m not feeling very guilty….

Grobag’s Gro Anywhere Blind
We didn’t start off as the parents who kept the house quiet for naps or drew the blinds all the way in the nursery. We started off vacuuming around our babies in broad daylight as they napped in a swing or playpen in the early weeks. But it didn’t matter. Both babies soon demanded pitch-black…
Playskool Showcam 2-in-1 Digital Camera and Projector (mini-review)
THE PRODUCT The Playskool Showcam 2-in-1 Digital Camera and Projector ($69.99). THE GOOD It was pretty easy to get the Playskool Showcam 2-in-1 Digital Camera and Projector out of the box and install batteries. Unfortunately, you have to unscrew the battery case first; I know this is a thing now for safety purposes, but I prefer the…

Garden of Life mind/body rejuvenation challenge: update No. 1
About three weeks ago, I decided to embark on a 12-day cleanse as the starting point in a mind/body overhaul. It’s not just about losing some weight. I need to get back to me. For those 12 days, the only thing I changed was my diet — to conform with the restrictions set out in…
